If anything, the entire contents of this book focus on that simple principle, except the more I have learned to live like this, the happier I have been. I am going to gift this gem to my friends and family. It is a truly enjoyable read, which just re-affirms that people are fundamentally decent. When we strive to be better individuals, we thrive as a society as a whole.
As a senior English teacher, I found the book poorly written and the stories rather unconvincing. As a community service volunteer for almost thirty years, I have seen a good deal of human kindness dispensed by so many good people to total strangers with horrendous disabilities and incredible poverty in my country, Australia, and in Cambodia where our Lions Club has a English teaching project. I did not bother to finish reading the book.
It was very uplifting. It is nice to know that there are still people who care left in this world.
Outstanding book!
A collection of inspiring true stories from all around the world, reminding us that even the smallest kind deed can change a life for the better, forever. The ripples never stop. A fast antidote to cynicism and despair, and a call to be creative and fearless in our own kindness.
The concept of this book is a good one, and I do recommend it if you are looking for some uplifting stories. I felt a few of the stories weren't of the calibur to go in this compilation, but that is just me. Different things speak to different people. It wasn't a blow-your-socks-off book for me, but I enjoyed most of it very much.
I talk a lot about the benefits of kindness and doing service for others but this fabulous book really brings it home. This collection of stories from around the world illustrates how each one of us has the power to change things, not only for another person, but for ourselves and for the whole of mankind. A few of these stories I have read before but most of them I have not and they are all wonderful in their own way, bringing forth a very important message that hopefully will move more people into action. I have already recommended this to several friends and plan to refer to it again in the future. Great stuff.
